Overview

  • The Consejo General endorsed a base budget and Institutional Project Portfolio totaling 15,100,027,506 pesos, plus a 3,119,405,112‑peso contingency to organize a possible Consulta Popular.
  • Public financing for national parties in 2026 was set at 7,737,252,697 pesos under the constitutional 30/70 allocation formula, with 3% of ordinary funds earmarked for women's political training.
  • INE says the resources will fund preparations for the 2026-2027 federal electoral cycle, including renewal of the Chamber of Deputies and the second stage of judicial elections, as well as the local process in Coahuila and projects on inclusion, gender equity and data protection.
  • Councillors emphasized budget austerity without degrading constitutional functions and urged the Chamber of Deputies not to impose severe cuts as the proposal enters the federal budget cycle.
  • Following disputes over figures and documentation, the council approved last-minute adjustments—increasing funds for the Gender and Non-Discrimination unit and covering year-round honorarium posts—and ordered bimonthly progress reports on execution.
