IndyCar's Pato O'Ward Joins McLaren as Reserve Driver for 2024 F1 Season

O'Ward to Continue IndyCar Role with Arrow McLaren, Earned Super Licence After Fourth-Place Championship Finish

Pato O'Ward, an IndyCar racer, has been signed by McLaren as a reserve driver for the 2024 F1 season.
O'Ward will continue his role with Arrow McLaren in the IndyCar series alongside his new F1 reserve role.
After finishing fourth in this year's IndyCar championship, O'Ward earned enough points to qualify for a Super Licence, enabling his move to F1.
O'Ward will participate in the first practice session of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and in post-season testing at the same track.
McLaren's reserve squad also includes Ryo Hirakawa, winner of Japan's 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher.
