- The airport has installed a zero-waste plant, making it the first airport in India with such a sustainability-focused facility, capable of processing 1,000 kg of waste daily.
- The minister confirmed plans to construct a new terminal building within three years, increasing the airport's passenger capacity from 40 lakh to 55 lakh annually.
- Efforts are underway to expand the airport's runway from 2,800 meters to 3,400 meters to accommodate larger Code-E aircraft, pending state government approval for land acquisition.
- Future connectivity enhancements were announced, including potential international routes to Singapore, Thailand, and the USA, along with ongoing discussions to elevate the airport's status to an international facility.
