Indo-Australian CSR Delegation Pitches Smart Villages, AI Labs to J&K LG as Sinha Pledges Support

The pitch aligns with new government moves on Dal–Nagin ecosystem conservation under the Prime Minister’s package.

Overview

  • The delegation, led by Bharat CSR Network chair Sajid N Saiyed, met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar on September 21 to present CSR proposals for the Union Territory.
  • The package outlined ten Smart Villages, AI laboratories, a Waste-to-Wealth programme, water remediation projects, community centres, and rehabilitation support for flood-affected residents.
  • Sinha welcomed the plan and assured administrative backing for implementation, with the initiatives currently at the proposal stage.
  • Earlier in the day, Sinha joined a Swachhta drive at Dal Lake, calling the lake a regional identity and urging citizens to treat cleanliness as a moral responsibility.
  • The administration said the Rs 212 crore Integrated Management of Dal–Nagin Ecosystem is entering its launch phase under the PMDP, with a Rs 306 crore sewage treatment plant in the pipeline and ongoing work to link houseboats to treatment facilities.
