IndiGo to Launch Direct Mumbai Flights to Almaty, Tashkent and Tbilisi
IndiGo shifts its Central Asia hub from Delhi to Mumbai in response to Pakistan airspace restrictions
Overview
- Flights from Mumbai to Almaty start July 1, followed by services to Tashkent on August 1 and Tbilisi on August 2.
- Four weekly round trips to Almaty and Tashkent and three weekly round trips to Tbilisi will be operated by IndiGo.
- The routes replace Delhi services that were suspended in April after Pakistan closed its airspace to the carrier.
- Vinay Malhotra says the expansion reflects robust demand and will boost tourism, trade and people-to-people connections.
- Kazakhstan’s Air Astana has also introduced Mumbai–Almaty flights, increasing competition on the key Central Asia corridor.
