Overview
- IndiGo announced on Friday, July 31, that it will stop wide-body Boeing 787 services from October 25 and will end its damp lease with Norse Atlantic by the end of October.
- The carrier will switch its Mumbai–Amsterdam flights to the long-range A321XLR from October 25 and will suspend London Heathrow services until its ordered Airbus A350-900 aircraft are delivered.
- IndiGo said the decision followed a review that found airspace restrictions, rising jet fuel and other operating costs plus a weaker rupee had hurt route efficiency and schedule reliability.
- The airline said it will offer affected customers rebooking, alternate travel options or refunds to reduce disruption during the transition.
- IndiGo described the 787 damp-lease, signed in early 2025 to build long-haul experience, as temporary and said its longer-term A350-based international expansion plan remains intact even as rivals gain short-term advantage on long-haul routes.
