Overview
- The Airbus A321 operating as IndiGo flight 6E 225 (VT-NOG) struck a Visual Docking Guidance System pole while being positioned at Bay No. 06 at Srinagar International Airport at about 9:02 a.m. on Friday.
- All passengers and crew were brought to a complete stop, deboarded safely using manual stairs, and no injuries were reported.
- Srinagar Airport and the Airport Authority of India have opened an investigation and said no conclusions will be drawn until regulators complete standard checks of ground guidance, signalling and taxiing records.
- Multiple outlets report the aircraft sustained damage but IndiGo has not yet published a detailed assessment of the extent of that damage or whether the jet will be taken out of service.
- The incident arrives after several other recent operational events involving IndiGo, which has focused regulator and media attention on apron handling and the airline’s operational oversight.
