Overview

  • The Patna-to-Ranchi flight was struck by a vulture at about 3,000–4,000 feet on June 2, forcing an immediate diversion to Birsa Munda Airport.
  • All 175 passengers and crew disembarked without injuries following the unplanned landing.
  • Birsa Munda Airport director R R Maurya confirmed the collision dented the aircraft’s nose section and that technical teams have begun inspections.
  • Airport sources said the flight was originally scheduled to continue on to Kolkata after landing in Ranchi.
  • This incident is IndiGo’s second weather- or wildlife-related aircraft damage in 15 days, following a May 21 hailstorm collision near Srinagar.
