India’s Third National Lok Adalat Resolves 2.42 Crore Cases, Reports ₹7,817 Crore in Settlements

A single-day, conciliatory drive by thousands of benches across courts delivered quick resolutions through negotiated settlements.

Overview

  • NALSA held the third National Lok Adalat of 2025 across taluks, districts and high courts in 29 states and eight union territories.
  • Preliminary reports as of 6:30 pm recorded 2,42,55,036 cases resolved, including 2,10,44,809 pre-litigation matters and 32,10,227 pending cases.
  • Reported settlement values exceeded ₹7,817.62 crore across categories ranging from criminal compoundable offences to bank recovery, MACT, NI Act, consumer and traffic matters.
  • Punjab reported 4.50 lakh cases settled out of 5.18 lakh taken up through 447 benches, with officials crediting advance coordination with banks, utilities, insurers and departments.
  • Local tallies included Mohali’s 21,192 cases with awards of about ₹201 crore, Chandigarh’s 14,000 disposals with DRT‑II settlements of roughly ₹94.19 crore, and Panchkula’s 17,941 cases closed.
