India’s Telephone Subscribers Reach 1.204 Billion in April as Jio Adds 2.64 Million Users

  • Tele-density climbed to 85.19% in April, with rural penetration rising to 59.26% and urban density to 131.46%.
  • Bharti Airtel’s monthly additions slowed to 170,658, while Vodafone Idea shed 647,650 subscribers and BSNL lost 155,000.
  • Wireless connections grew by 2.67 million to 1,166.43 million, accounting for over 96% of all telephone subscriptions.
  • Jio’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access network gained 569,938 users, boosting its national FWA share to about 82%.
