India’s FY25 Seafood Exports Flat at $7.45 Billion as Volumes Decline

  • India shipped 1,698,170 tonnes of seafood in FY2024-25, down from 1,781,602 tonnes the previous year.
  • Frozen shrimp brought in $5.17 billion, about 43.7% of export volume and roughly 69.5% of dollar earnings.
  • The United States was the largest market by value at $2.71 billion, followed by China at $1.27 billion and the European Union at $1.12 billion.
  • Southeast Asia accounted for $974.99 million, Japan for $411.55 million, and the Middle East for $278.31 million in purchases.
  • Vizag and JNPT handled the most seafood cargo, and frozen fish and frozen squid were the next-largest export items at $622.60 million and $367.68 million.
