India’s FY25 Seafood Export Value Holds at $7.45 Billion as Volumes Decline

Overview

  • India exported 16,98,170 tonnes of seafood worth Rs 62,408.45 crore ($7.45 billion) in 2024-25, according to official data.
  • Total volume fell from 17,81,602 tonnes in 2023-24 even as overall dollar receipts remained broadly unchanged.
  • Frozen shrimp earned about $5.18 billion, contributing 43.67% of export volume and 69.46% of foreign-exchange earnings.
  • The United States was the top buyer by value at about $2.71 billion, while China purchased roughly $1.27–$1.28 billion and led by quantity.
  • Vizag and JNPT were the leading ports for seafood shipments, and frozen fish and frozen squid fetched $622.6 million and $367.68 million respectively.
