India's Domestic Air Travel Hits New Monthly High as DGCA Details Major Disruptions

- Domestic airlines carried 1,526.35 lakh passengers in January–November 2025, up 4.26% year-on-year, with November crossing 15 million for the first time and posting 6.92% monthly growth.
- In November, 156,768 passengers were delayed over two hours and 112,112 were affected by cancellations, with carriers spending Rs 210.23 lakh on facilitation for delays and Rs 40.79 lakh on cancellation-related costs.
- IndiGo recorded the largest number of affected passengers and its market share slipped to 63.6% in November, after which DGCA directed a 10% cut to the airline’s winter schedule earlier this month.
- The Air India Group saw 12,488 passengers hit by cancellations and 46,323 by long delays, as November load factors ran high across carriers led by Akasa Air at 93.8%, followed by IndiGo at 88.7% and SpiceJet at 87.7%.
- Airlines logged 1,196 passenger complaints in November (0.78 per 10,000), on-time performance varied widely with Chennai leading metros at 86.4% and Mumbai at 50.1%, and airlines reported resolving 99.6% of complaints.
