Overview

  • NHAI data shows over 4 lakh annual passes activated and more than 4.25 lakh toll-free crossings nationwide by the afternoon of August 17.
  • Uttar Pradesh led initial uptake with around 30,000 activations and more than 21,000 crossings in the first 48 hours, including 18,136 in Lucknow and 3,106 in Varanasi zones.
  • The prepaid pass costs ₹3,000 and offers either one year of travel or up to 200 crossings on designated national highway and expressway plazas when activated via the RajmargYatra app or NHAI portal.
  • Officials report the scheme cuts the average toll cost per trip from about ₹100 to roughly ₹15 for frequent highway users.
  • Only private four-wheelers are eligible and must affix the FASTag sticker or risk blacklisting, while existing monthly passes remain valid without counting toward the annual limit.
