• AFI confirmed a 19-athlete squad (14 men, 5 women) for the World Athletics Championships at Japan National Stadium from September 13–21.
• Defending champion Neeraj Chopra enters men’s javelin via wild card, with qualification on September 17 and the final on September 18.
• For the first time, India fields four men’s javelin throwers: Chopra, Sachin Yadav, Yashvir Singh and Rohit Yadav.
• Animesh Kujur becomes the first Indian man to qualify for the World Championships 200m, and Tejas Shirse lines up in the 110m hurdles.
