Orkin's annual Top 50 Bed Bug Cities List for 2024 ranks Indianapolis as the eighth worst city in the U.S. for bed bugs, a slight improvement from its seventh-place ranking in 2023.
Chicago tops the list for the fourth year in a row, followed by New York City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Los Angeles.
Greensboro, North Carolina, experienced a significant increase in bedbugs, climbing 25 spots to secure a spot in the top twenty.
Bed bugs are not known to spread diseases, but their bites can cause itching, sleep disturbances, and in some cases, allergic reactions or secondary skin infections.
Orkin suggests regular home inspections, reducing clutter, and careful examination of secondhand furniture to prevent bed bug infestations.
