Overview

  • Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 16 after traveling from New York and joining a protest near the White House.
  • A federal complaint charges her with threatening to take the life of, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon the President and with transmitting threats in interstate commerce.
  • Court filings cite Instagram and Facebook activity from Aug. 2–15 that included explicit threats, including an Aug. 6 post saying she would "sacrificially kill" and "disembowel" the President.
  • The Secret Service interviewed her on Aug. 15 and again on Aug. 16; agents say she expressed willingness to kill, referenced a "bladed object," later denied present intent, and admitted owning the accounts and posting the statements.
  • U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the charges on Aug. 18; Assistant U.S. Attorney Josh Satter is prosecuting as the Secret Service continues the investigation, and Jones remains in custody.
