Overview

  • Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, was arrested in Washington on Aug. 16 and is accused of threatening to kill, kidnap, or harm the President, according to DOJ court filings.
  • The complaint cites Instagram activity observed Aug. 2–9 and a Facebook post on Aug. 6 stating she was willing to “sacrificially kill” the President.
  • In an Aug. 15 voluntary interview, agents say Jones described a “mission” to kill the President, referenced a “bladed object,” and tied her motive to COVID-19 deaths.
  • After a protest near the White House on Aug. 16, she acknowledged making the threats in the earlier interview, denied any present intent to harm, and was taken into custody.
  • The U.S. Secret Service is investigating, AUSA Josh Satter is prosecuting the case, and the DOJ publicly announced the charges on Aug. 18.
