Indiana Troopers Seize 309 Pounds of Cocaine During DOT Stop on I-70

ICE detainers follow DHS criticism of California licensing.

Overview

  • The semi was stopped around 1:30 p.m. Saturday on eastbound I-70 near Greenville during a routine DOT inspection while traveling from Joplin, Missouri, to Richmond, Indiana.
  • Troopers noted criminal indicators, a K-9 alerted to the vehicle, and a search found cocaine concealed in the sleeper berth with an estimated street value of about $7 million.
  • Gurpreet Singh, 25, of Fresno, and Jasveer Singh, 30, of Santa Clara, were arrested without incident, charged with dealing narcotics as a Level 2 felony, and booked into the Putnam County Jail.
  • ICE says both men are Indian nationals with California-issued commercial driver’s licenses, citing prior illegal entries in 2017 and 2023 and a December 2025 detainer for Jasveer Singh that was not honored in San Bernardino.
  • Investigators have not disclosed the shipment’s intended destination or additional suspects, and Gov. Mike Braun publicly praised the interdiction.
