Indiana Sets Record 2025 High School Graduation Rate Near 92%

State officials credit clearer academic and career pathways for gains across all student groups.

Overview

  • The Indiana Department of Education reported a 91.83% statewide graduation rate for the Class of 2025, up from 90.23% in 2024.
  • The new mark represents the third straight year of statewide improvement.
  • Rates rose for every reported student group, including Black students 86.90%, Hispanic 89.80%, White 93.36%, English learners 92.38%, special education 88.05%, and students receiving free or reduced-price meals 93.34%.
  • Graduates earning diplomas without waivers increased to 90.34% from 87.53%, following state efforts to limit reliance on waivers.
  • Gov. Mike Braun praised the results as a testament to students, families, and educators, and officials pointed to forthcoming diploma standards and readiness seals taking effect with the Class of 2029.
