Indiana New Mother, 25, Killed After Deer Hit by Another Car Was Flung Into Her Vehicle

A memorial fundraiser has surpassed $41,000, with investigators reviewing the circumstances.

Overview

  • The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office says the Oct. 25 crash on State Road 67 near Paragon occurred when a northbound vehicle struck a deer that was propelled into southbound traffic, fatally injuring passenger Cheyenne Sears, 25.
  • WXIN reported the initial vehicle was a Pontiac and the deer struck the windshield of a Chevy Blazer carrying Sears, which police described as a very tragic accident.
  • Relatives said Sears had given birth to twins about a week earlier, identifying the newborns as Caisley Nicole and Cohen Scott.
  • Sears was airlifted following the collision, a juvenile in the Blazer was also hospitalized, and no injuries were reported in the vehicle that first hit the deer.
  • Her employer described her as a beloved caregiver at The Springs of Mooresville, and a donations page set up in her memory has raised more than $41,000.
