Ruf's wife, Lisa Bishop, was hospitalized multiple times with symptoms like headaches and drowsiness, testing positive for drugs she denied taking.
Authorities began investigating in January 2022 after Bishop reported her suspicions to police.
Ruf claimed his stepdaughter provided the drugs and planned to kill Bishop for her life insurance policy.
