Indiana Man Rescues Two Babies Abandoned in Freezing Ditch After Car Theft

The infants, aged 4 and 5 months, were found in car seats outside a home after being kidnapped in a stolen vehicle in Indianapolis.

Robert Deane discovered two baby girls in a ditch near his home while retrieving a package on December 2, 2024, in Indianapolis.
The babies, cousins aged 4 and 5 months, were kidnapped earlier that day when a 2013 Hyundai Sonata was stolen with them in the backseat.
Deane brought the infants, who were left in below-freezing temperatures, inside his home to warm them up and immediately called 911.
Police located the stolen vehicle nearby but have not yet identified or apprehended a suspect in the case.
Authorities are urging parents not to leave children unattended in vehicles and continue to investigate the circumstances of the theft and kidnapping.
