Overview
- Curtis Bordenkircher, 35, was arrested Nov. 3 on four felony counts of neglect of a dependent and two felony counts of intimidation, and he has pleaded not guilty.
- He was released Nov. 4 on a $600 cash bond, and a judge issued four no-contact orders protecting the children named in the case.
- The case began after a child texted their mother on Oct. 15, leading to a sheriff’s welfare check and a Department of Child Safety investigation opened Oct. 17.
- In recorded interviews at a child advocacy center, four children alleged beatings with a belt, being dragged by the ankles, and being forced to stand in a corner for up to six hours until their legs went numb.
- The probable-cause affidavit alleges threats to suffocate the children and “slaughter” them in their sleep, claims that he brandished a knife, and reports he was drinking beer during police questioning.
