Indiana Climbs to No. 3 as AP Top 25 Sees Biggest Turnover Since 2022

The moves set up a fluid playoff picture that will not be officially judged until the CFP committee’s first rankings on November 4.

Overview

  • Ohio State stayed No. 1 with 50 first-place votes and Miami held No. 2 with 13, while Indiana reached a program-best No. 3 and received three first-place votes, its most since 1945.
  • Indiana’s 30-20 win at Oregon ended the Ducks’ 18-game regular-season home streak at Autzen Stadium, dropping Oregon five spots to No. 8.
  • Texas re-entered at No. 21 after a 23-6 Red River win over Oklahoma, which fell eight places to No. 14 in its first loss of the season.
  • Alabama rose to No. 6 after edging then-No. 14 Missouri 27-24, joining Texas A&M and Ole Miss in a crowded top tier of SEC teams.
  • Eight ranked teams lost over the weekend, opening spots for five newcomers — USC (20), Texas (21), Utah (23), Cincinnati (24) and Nebraska (25) — the most regular-season poll turnover since October 2022.
