  • Turkey’s tourism ministry reported a one-third decline in Indian visitors in May–August, to roughly 90,400 from about 136,000 a year earlier.
  • For January–August 2025, Indian arrivals fell 22% to around 125,000 in Azerbaijan and 21% to about 174,000 in Turkey, reversing strong growth seen in 2024.
  • Data accessed by CNN-News18 show June–August Indian visits to Azerbaijan fell to 20,631 from 69,576 last year, while Turkey dropped to 58,544 from 93,963, declines of about 70% and 38%, respectively.
  • Major Indian travel platforms discouraged trips without a government advisory; MakeMyTrip cited a 60% slide in bookings and a 250% surge in cancellations and halted promotions for both destinations.
