Overview
- From July 1, passenger fares will rise by 1 paise per kilometre for non-AC Mail and Express trains and by 2 paisa per kilometre for AC classes.
- Journeys over 500 km in ordinary second class will see a half-paise per kilometre hike, while fares for trips up to 500 km, suburban services, and monthly season tickets remain unchanged.
- IRCTC website and app users must complete Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets starting July 1.
- An Aadhaar-based OTP verification step becomes mandatory for Tatkal bookings from July 15 to strengthen oversight.
- Authorised booking agents will be barred from securing Tatkal tickets in the first 30 minutes of release for both AC and non-AC classes.
