• Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said instructions have been issued to roll out the rescheduling feature.
• Confirmation on a new travel date will depend on seat availability and is not guaranteed.
• Passengers must pay any difference if the fare on the new date is higher than the original booking.
• Under current rules, travelers must cancel and rebook, with deductions up to 25% for changes 48–12 hours before departure and generally no refunds after the reservation chart is prepared.
• The move comes alongside booking reforms that from October 1 restrict the first 15 minutes of reservations to Aadhaar‑authenticated IRCTC accounts.
