Overview
- The Railways reported 4,211 special trains operated between October 1 and 20 serving over 1 crore passengers, with plans for about 8,000 more trips in the coming days.
- Central Railway has scheduled 1,998 festive trips and completed 705 so far carrying 10.68 lakh passengers, with fixed platform assignments, larger holding areas at LTT targeting about 10,000 capacity, and round-the-clock RPF/GRP deployment.
- Western Railway is operating about 2,400 special-trip services, mostly north-bound, with additional holding zones at Bandra Terminus and a temporary halt on platform ticket sales at Bandra, Vapi and Surat to ease crowding.
- In Delhi, Northern Railway scheduled 26 specials to originate on Tuesday and ran two unscheduled services to Darbhanga and Bhagalpur, while platform ticket sales are suspended at major NCR stations from October 15 to 28.
- South Central Railway reported 4.80 crore passengers across 1,010 trains from September 21 to October 20 and, alongside NFR and Southern Railway, has added coaches, opened extra counters and set up holding areas, even as migrants on Bihar–UP routes continue to report difficulty securing affordable seats.
