Indian Railways Opens 1,265 Station Master Posts

A dedicated national notice creates a separate, standardised hiring route that sets exam format, medical rules and application deadlines for graduate candidates.

Overview

  • The Railway Ministry began online applications for 1,265 Station Master vacancies on Tuesday, October 27, and the window closes at 11:59 pm on November 25 with fees payable until November 27.
  • Vacancies are split RRB‑wise with Mumbai leading at 177 posts, followed by Jammu‑Srinagar (122) and Chennai (119), and the table lists category quotas including 542 unreserved and 296 OBC (non‑creamy layer) posts.
  • Candidates must be graduates aged 20–33 as of January 1, 2027 with statutory relaxations, the post is placed at Pay Level 6 with a basic pay of ₹35,400, and those who had refractive surgery such as LASIK are ineligible under the A‑2 medical standard.
  • Selection combines a Computer Based Test (CBT) and a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), with final merit calculated as 70% CBT and 30% CBAT, CBT will have negative marking, and candidates must qualify the CBAT to appear on the combined merit list.
  • Applicants must apply through RRB websites or rrbapply.gov.in, pay a refundable fee structure (general ₹500 with ₹400 refundable on appearing for CBT; eligible reserved categories ₹250 refundable), and note that Station Master recruitments will be notified separately going forward from 2026.
