Indian Railways Launches Pilot Round Trip Package With 20% Return-Fare Rebate

Bookings start August 14 following platform upgrades to prepare for the DiwaliChhath travel surge.

Overview

  • The Ministry of Railways formally launched the pilot Round Trip Package on August 10, with bookings scheduled to open August 14 via updated IRCTC and reservation platforms.
  • Passengers booking confirmed onward and return tickets together for the same group, class and origin-destination pair will receive a 20% rebate on the base fare of the return leg.
  • The offer covers outbound journeys between October 13 and October 26 and return trips from November 17 through December 1 with no advance reservation period applied to return bookings.
  • Flexi-fare trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Tejas and Vande Bharat services are excluded, and tickets under the scheme cannot be refunded, modified or combined with other concessions.
  • The experimental initiative aims to spread passenger load over the festive season by encouraging balanced bookings in both directions and improving train utilization.
