Overview

• The Ministry formally approved the full CCTV rollout and floated tenders on July 13 to equip 74,000 coaches and 15,000 locomotives.
• Each coach will be fitted with four dome-type cameras in common movement areas near doors to deter miscreants while preserving passenger privacy.
• Each locomotive will feature six external cameras plus cab-mounted dome cameras and desk-mounted microphones for audio surveillance.
