Overview

• The new MRP is Rs 14 for a 1-litre Rail Neer bottle and Rs 9 for a 500 ml bottle.
• Revised caps also apply to IRCTC- and Railways-shortlisted bottled-water brands sold on trains and at stations.
• A Railway Board circular dated September 20 directs all zonal general managers and IRCTC to enforce the new rates from September 22.
• The move follows the GST rate on packaged drinking water being reduced from 12% to 5% under the latest tax rationalisation.
• IRCTC is reported to be ramping output, including doubling production at its Ambernath plant to supply Mumbai and Gujarat.
