Overview
- The Mumbai–Manmad Panchavati Express has become the first train in India to feature an onboard ATM, located in a modified pantry space within an air-conditioned coach.
- The ATM, part of the Indian Railways’ Innovative and Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (INFRIS), successfully completed its trial run on April 10, 2025, with minor connectivity issues noted in tunnel stretches between Igatpuri and Kasara.
- Passengers across all 22 vestibule-connected coaches can access the ATM for cash withdrawals, cheque book orders, and account statements during their journey.
- The trial, conducted in partnership with the Bank of Maharashtra, aims to enhance passenger convenience and diversify revenue streams for Indian Railways.
- Officials are evaluating the trial’s performance to consider extending the service to other trains, including the Mumbai–Hingoli Jan Shatabdi Express, which shares the same rake.
