Overview
- Indian Railways has sanctioned a new direct Superfast service between Bengaluru and Mumbai, as announced by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.
- The train is planned to run through Tumakuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubballi-Dharwad and Belagavi, serving the central Karnataka corridor.
- This service will take a different alignment from the Udyan Express, which currently runs via the Bengaluru–Guntakal–Solapur route with 31 stops.
- Officials frame the approval as meeting a decades-long demand and say the route will benefit lakhs of passengers and bolster trade between Karnataka and Maharashtra.
- No start date, final timetable or complete halt list has been issued, and particulars such as origin and terminus stations remain unconfirmed.
