Indian Railways Begins Phased Shift From UTS to RailOne, Ending Season-Pass Issuance on Legacy App

Railway officials say no formal order sets a March 1 shutdown for UTS.

Overview

  • UTS has permanently disabled the issuance and renewal of season passes, with all new and renewed passes to be booked on the RailOne app.
  • Existing season passes on UTS remain valid until expiry, and a Transfer Ticket feature enables pass migration to RailOne along with automatic wallet balance transfer.
  • Journey tickets can still be booked on UTS for now, as officials describe a gradual transition rather than an overnight switch-off.
  • To speed adoption, the Railways will offer a 3% discount on unreserved tickets bought in RailOne via any digital payment mode from January 14 to July 14, while the 3% R‑wallet cashback continues.
  • Launched in July 2025, RailOne consolidates reserved and unreserved ticketing with features such as PNR checks, live train tracking and e‑catering, and zones are being pushed to increase mobile bookings.
