Indian Railways Accelerates Reservation Charts to Eight Hours Ahead of Departure
This change aims to give travellers earlier confirmations, reducing last-minute station rush.
Overview
- From July 10, first reservation charts for all Mail & Express trains are prepared eight hours before departure
- Trains scheduled between 5 am and 2 pm will see charts released by 9 pm the previous evening
- The timing for second charts remains unchanged and final charts continue 30 minutes before departure
- The nationwide rollout follows a successful 24-hour pilot in Bikaner and a July 2 Railway Board directive
- Railway officials say the phased charting will improve passenger planning and aid coach deployment
