The murder of the former Maharashtra minister has revived fears of organized crime's resurgence in Mumbai.

The murder plot was reportedly planned over three months in Pune, with the shooters paid an advance and instructed via encrypted apps.
Bishnoi, despite being in jail, is believed to run a vast criminal network involved in extortion and high-profile assassinations across India and abroad.
Canadian authorities have accused the Bishnoi gang of acting as a proxy for Indian government interests, a claim India has denied.
