Overview

• INS Tir, INS Sujata, INS Shardul and ICGS Sarathi arrived in Mombasa on September 25 and were formally welcomed by the Kenya Navy alongside India’s Defence Advisor and the Acting High Commissioner.
• The visit features professional exchanges that include a Maritime Partnership Exercise and a Passage Exercise to build interoperability.
• Planned community engagement in Mombasa includes a joint yoga session, a combined performance by the Indian and Kenyan Navy bands, and outreach events.
• The squadron is on a Southwest Indian Ocean training deployment that has already included Seychelles, Mauritius, La Réunion and Mozambique.
• India frames the deployment as part of its MAHASAGAR vision, using trainee sea-time to strengthen regional ties and practical cooperation with partner navies.
