Indian Navy Training Squadron Engages in Singapore Port Call Through Jan. 18
The visit advances officer training under India’s Act East policy during the ASEAN‑India Year of Maritime Cooperation.
Overview
- INS Tir, INS Shardul, INS Sujata and Coast Guard ship Sarathi arrived at Changi Naval Base on January 15 for a long‑range training deployment.
- Indian and Singaporean naval personnel are holding professional exchanges, structured training, joint yoga sessions, sports fixtures and public band performances.
- The ships are open to school visits and crew have conducted outreach including museum visits, Information Fusion Centre interactions and community service.
- The deployment forms part of the 110th Integrated Officers’ Training Course, which includes six trainees from Maldives, Myanmar and Vietnam with Army and Air Force personnel embarked.
- The stop strengthens India–Singapore maritime cooperation and precedes scheduled port calls in Indonesia and Thailand, aligning with regional initiatives such as IONS and the MAHASAGAR vision.
