Overview
- DSC A24, which was launched on 01 Aug 2026, is the fifth and final Diving Support Craft built by Titagarh Rail Systems for the Indian Navy and marks the end of the programme's build phase.
- The catamaran-hulled vessels displace about 300 to 400 tonnes to give stable decks and better sea-keeping for diving, underwater inspection and salvage operations.
- Officials said roughly 70 percent of main and auxiliary equipment was sourced from Indian manufacturers, a point the Navy and Ministry of Defence presented as support for Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat goals.
- The launch ceremony followed naval traditions and was attended by senior Navy leaders and TRSL representatives; the ships will next undergo outfitting, harbour and sea trials before formal commissioning and operational induction.
- Beyond adding specialised dive and salvage capacity, the programme signals growing private-sector shipbuilding capability in India and could shorten timelines for future small naval support vessels once trials and commissioning finish.
