Indian Navy Concludes Jal Prahar Amphibious Exercise With Army

The biannual drill validated joint procedures for amphibious operations from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada.

Overview

  • An official Navy release on September 25 announced the successful completion of Exercise Jal Prahar, conducted with the Indian Army.
  • The exercise followed a two-phase design with a Harbour Phase from September 16–20 at Visakhapatnam and a Sea Phase from September 21–23 off Kakinada.
  • During the Harbour Phase, Army troops were inducted and integrated aboard INS Gharial with onboard training, safety briefings, and orientation activities.
  • The Sea Phase executed amphibious maneuvers including hard beaching at Kakinada, launches of Landing Craft Assault and BMPs, and validation of SOPs and Joint Training Protocols.
  • The stated objective focused on strengthening inter-service synergy as well as refining operational planning and execution along India’s eastern seaboard.
