The 23-year-old allegedly converted cyber fraud proceeds into cryptocurrency and transferred them to a Chinese gang via Binance and QR codes.

  • Vikram Vishnoi, a third-year MBBS student from Maharashtra, was arrested in Indore for his alleged role in a cyber fraud scheme involving cryptocurrency transfers to a Chinese gang.
  • Police connected Vishnoi to the defrauding of a software engineer in Indore, who was coerced into paying ₹1.35 lakh under false threats of legal trouble.
  • Vishnoi reportedly used the Binance cryptocurrency exchange to convert fraudulently obtained funds into cryptocurrency and transferred ₹8 lakh to a Chinese crypto wallet via QR codes.
  • The accused communicated with the Chinese gang through a Telegram group and a chatbot with translation capabilities, receiving commissions for facilitating transactions.
  • Authorities are investigating the gang’s role in broader cyber crimes and have contacted Telegram and Binance for further information regarding the transactions.
