Indian Exporters Ramp Up Use of Australia and UAE Free Trade Pacts

Heightened tariff benefit claims have driven bilateral trade to new highs; a ministry review is now under way to assess pact performance.

Overview

  • Preferential certificates of origin under the India-Australia FTA rose 19.07% to 77,234 in 2024-25 while those under the India-UAE pact climbed 24.66% to 122,036, taking total CoOs to 720,996.
  • Monthly CoO issuance maintained momentum in April–May 2025, with certificates for Australia up 13.3% year-on-year and those for the UAE up 28.3%.
  • Bilateral trade reached $24.1 billion with Australia and $100.06 billion with the UAE in fiscal 2025, reflecting deeper market integration.
