Indian Embassy and IndiGo Extend Saudi Flight Cancellations Through Oct. 24

The extensions respond to an escalating security threat from reported Houthi drone and missile attacks.

Overview

  • IndiGo and the Embassy of India in Riyadh announced on Thursday that flights connecting Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah will remain cancelled through October 24 inclusive.
  • Akasa Air separately said it has suspended all Riyadh services until October 24 and Jeddah flights until October 21 and is offering full refunds or free rebooking for affected passengers.
  • Airlines first suspended Saudi routes earlier in the week through October 17 after reported attacks at Riyadh airport and have now extended those suspensions while they reassess the security situation in real time.
  • Carriers are notifying customers using booking contact details, asking travellers who booked through agents to contact their providers, and Indian consular teams have opened support lines including a 24x7 control room in Makkah to assist nationals.
  • Travel will remain disrupted and passengers should check official airline or embassy updates before travelling because airlines may extend suspensions further if threats persist.
