Indian Coast Guard Commissions ICGS Adamya at Paradip

The Goa-built fast patrol vessel showcases India’s push for self-reliant maritime capability.

Overview

  • Adamya is the first of eight fast patrol vessels designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited with over 60% indigenous content.
  • The 51-metre, approximately 320-ton ship uses twin 3,000 kW diesel engines for a top speed of 28 knots and an endurance of 1,500 nautical miles.
  • It is the first Coast Guard ship fitted with indigenously developed controllable-pitch propellers and gearboxes to improve manoeuvrability and performance.
  • Based at Paradip under Coast Guard Region (North East), the ship is commanded by Commandant (JG) Anurag Pandey with a crew of 5 officers and 34 personnel.
  • Armament includes a 30 mm CRN91 and two 12.7 mm stabilized remote-controlled guns, with integrated bridge, platform and power-management systems, and the commissioning was led by MoD Joint Secretary Satyajit Mohanty in the presence of Inspector General Yoginder Dhaka.
