Indian Cabinet Approves ₹25,497 Crore for Rail Expansion and Border Village Development

The government greenlights major projects to enhance rail connectivity and improve infrastructure in strategic border areas, benefiting millions.

The Union Cabinet has sanctioned ₹18,658 crore for four railway projects to expand the network by 1,247 km in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
The ₹6,839-crore Vibrant Villages Programme-II will focus on developing infrastructure, education, and livelihoods in border villages across 18 states and union territories.
Railway projects include multi-tracking and doubling of lines on key routes, improving mobility, efficiency, and service reliability for Indian Railways.
The Vibrant Villages Programme-II aims to enhance living conditions and security in border areas, integrating them with the nation and supporting border defense.
A high-level committee chaired by the cabinet secretary will oversee the implementation and management of these initiatives to ensure their success.
