Overview
- Manufacturers reported in early November that October 2026 wholesale dispatches hit record highs across the industry as festive-season demand and dealer stocking lifted volumes.
- Maruti Suzuki led the surge with an all-time monthly high of about 276,120 units driven by strong sales of cars and utility vehicles and a near 50,000-unit rise in exports.
- Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles reached a record 75,426 units in October with electric vehicle sales up roughly 75 percent to 16,244 units and EVs making about one in five of its monthly PVs.
- Two-wheeler and other OEMs also posted major gains, with TVS selling 700,134 units in the month and its electric scooters up 120 percent to 71,382 units, while Hyundai, Mahindra and Kia each reported their highest-ever monthly wholesales.
- Companies warned that the October numbers are wholesale dispatches to dealers and exporters, not retail registrations, and said constrained CNG/EV allocations and timing of deliveries could shift some festival-period deliveries and registrations into November, keeping short-term supply tight.
