Indian Army kicks off women-led ‘Kumaon Quest’ motorcycle expedition in Uttarakhand border region

Overview

  • Ten riders led by Lt. Col. Aditi Mishra of the Corps of Engineers departed New Delhi’s National War Memorial on June 5 for a nine-day journey through Pithoragarh, Champawat, Didihat and Dharchula
  • Along the route, the team will visit educational institutions to engage students on career opportunities through the Agnipath recruitment scheme
  • Participants will honour Veer Naris, veterans and families of fallen soldiers to reinforce the Army’s commitment to veteran welfare
  • The expedition aligns with the Vibrant Villages Programme to boost tourism and infrastructure in remote border settlements
  • The ride continues a tradition of women-led Army motorcycle rallies launched in 2023 and 2024 to enhance civil-military ties
