Indian Army Inducts Fifth Agniveer Batch Across Key Regimental Centres

Their 31-week programme blended combat readiness with emerging warfare domains under a curriculum aimed at future battlefield demands.

Overview

  • Passing out parades at Punjab Regimental Centre (622 recruits), Army Service Corps Centre (North) (1,363), Ladakh Scouts regiment (194) and Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (659) marked the induction of the fifth batch of Agniveers.
  • Ceremonies were also reported at the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre, extending the fifth batch’s nationwide sweep.
  • The Agnipath scheme launched on June 14, 2022 enables short-term recruitment of soldiers into the three services of the Armed Forces.
  • Senior officers such as Brigadier Sajesh Babu P.G., Lt. Gen. J.K. Gera and Major General Gurpal Singh reviewed the parades and oversaw recruits taking an oath to uphold India’s Constitution and sovereignty.
  • Parents of the Agniveers received Gaurav Padaks in recognition of their sacrifice and encouragement throughout the training period.
